The Wall Street Journal has cited research from the 2026 U.S. PPLI Market Report, published by Life Insurance Strategies Group with Lion Street, in its August 29 examination of the growing use of private placement life insurance among wealthy Americans.

Reporter Miriam Gottfried's article, "'A Roth IRA on Steroids': Wealthy Americans Find Another Tax-Free Way to Invest," draws on the report's finding of more than $44 billion in assets under administration across the largest carriers surveyed at the end of 2025. The piece traces the shift among high-net-worth investors from asset allocation to asset location, and it examines the requirements that determine whether these structures hold up over time: the investor control doctrine, quarterly diversification testing, and the funding discipline needed to preserve a policy's tax treatment.
LISG CEO Jay Judas and his co-author on the report, Michael Fontanini of Lion Street, both spoke with the reporter during her research.
Now in its third edition, the LISG and Lion Street market report gathers premium and asset data directly from participating carriers and administrators, and examines carrier governance, structure selection and the policy design decisions that determine whether a PPLI contract remains compliant over its life.
